THE SAKO RECEIVER - BROACHED TO PERFECTION

The SAKO receiver is designed for ultimate accuracy and the smoothest operation. All SAKO 90 rifle receivers are designed to minimize the contact area between the bolt and receiver to achieve the world’s smoothest bolt operation.

A unique manufacturing method

All SAKO 90 rifle receivers are designed to minimize the contact area between the bolt and receiver to achieve the world’s smoothest bolt operation. The receivers are manufactured using a broaching operation that creates internal surfaces that match the profile of the bolt locking lugs. SAKO broaching is a method by which steel is carved to the desired shape by pushing multiple bolt-shaped cutting tools through the receiver. This method creates a straight interior and smooth surfaces for the bolt to move inside the receiver. The smoothest bolt operation is of paramount importance to achieve fast repeated shots when needed. The SAKO bolt is so smooth that you can keep your sight line while loading a new round into the chamber.

The heart of the rifle

All key components are directly linked to it. The receiver takes and transmits the recoil forces and that is why the shape design, material and bedding need to be done in harmony to achieve repeatable accuracy. The SAKO 90 receiver design has been reinforced from the past. Torsional bending and twisting have been minimized by designing the specific shapes for critical areas, especially on top of the ejection port. SAKO uses a flat receiver bedding that provides better repeatable accuracy than a conventional round receiver design. With accuracy in mind, the steel recoil lug and fine tuned surfaces of the SAKO 90 bedding work together to ensure that all components return to the same state after each shot, enabling repeatable accuracy.

Tailored to different caliber groups

This enables the shortest bolt throw distance for each caliber size enabling fast bolt operation and fast consecutive shot to target. The optimized receiver size also ensures that you are not carrying extra weight when hunting. A brand new feature of the Sako 90 range is the inclusion of two rifle model-specific optics mounting interface options. The machined-in Picatinny receiver is a repeatable, accurate and flexible mounting system that has been chosen for models that are typically used with high-magnifying optics. The Sako 90 Optilock receiver is a more traditional and classic design for those models that are also used with open sights. The Sako 90 Optilock interface features a straight 17 mm dovetail with recoil slots at both ends for easy, secure and reliable scope or red-dot mounting or, if open sights are preferred, a clear and undisturbed view through the sights.
